Solent Coastguard requested that Weymouth RNLI all-weather lifeboat be launched to the aid of a yacht which had lost its propeller and was near to St Aldhelms Head.
The lifeboat was launched at 4.30pm.
On route the Coastguards diverted the lifeboat to another vessel, 8 metre Arvour, with 2 persons on-board and broken down near the Adement.
The first casualty had got assistance from a passing yacht.
The lifeboat towed the motor boat safely towards Weymouth.
On the approach to the harbour, the Coastguards requested the lifeboat return to the entrance once the second casualty was safely alongside, and tow a 14 metre power boat up the harbour. which had broken down S of Portland Bill earlier in the day, and had been assisted by a commercial vessel, which was too large to bring the vessel up the harbour.
Once released from the ‘Arvour’ the lifeboat returned and took over the tow, and brought the third casualty safely alongside in the harbour.
