ALB requested to launch to assist a 12 metre yacht with 2 people on board 2’ SW Portland Bill suffering from a fouled propeller from crab pots.
A passing vessel had assisted the vessel to get clear of the line, but the vessel was till suffering from serve vibration when running the engine.
The Lifeboat arrived on scene, and after assessing the situation , it was decided to pass a tow rope, with a bridle made fast, for connection to the casualty.
Once the tow was safely connected, the tow was commenced back towards Portland Bill.
As the vessels approached the Bill, the visibility reduced to less than 100 metres.
The tow continued with all available means being used to maintain safety of both vessels towards Weymouth.
At the harbour entrance, the casualty was brought alongside the Lifeboats port side for towing up the harbour and moored in ‘The Cove’.
Once the casualty was safely alongside, the lifeboat was released to return to station.
As the lifeboat was about to be refuelled, the Coastguards requested the Lifeboat to launch to another incident
