Solent Coastguards requested the launch of the lifeboat to a single handed yachtsman on a 8 metre yacht suffering from fuel problems and unable to sail.
The vessel was reported as being in the Lulworth Firing range, and a Range Safety Craft had towed the casualty clear.
A Lifeboat on passage had then picked up the tow, but wished to continue on her passage, so the ALB was paged and launched.
Once on scene, the passage Lifeboat dropped her tow, and the ALB closed the casualty and passed another tow.
With the tow safely connected, and no other problems apparent on the casualty, the passage lifeboat continued on her way, and the ALB towed the casualty yacht to Weymouth.
The tow was transferred to alongside the ALB for tow up the harbour to a berth and the awaiting Coastguard IRT.
With the vessel safely alongside and the IRT in attendance, the ALB was released to return to station where it was refuelled and made ready for service.
