Solent Coastguard requested that Weymouth RNLI all-weather lifeboat launch to investigate reports of 2 paddleboarders in difficulties approx. 1 mile out to sea from Chesil Cove Portland.
The lifeboat launched at 3.30pm on Tuesday 6th September and was on scene some 25mins later at 3.55pm approx. 1.2 miles from Chesil Cove. They found the 2 paddleboarders safe and well but extremely pleased to see the lifeboat. The 2 had been blown well offshore , and where unable to paddle against the offshore wind.
They and their boards were taken onto the lifeboat and transported back to Chesil Cove where they were able to get back on their boards and safely paddle the short distance back to shore where Portland Bill Coastguard CRT where there to greet them
The lifeboat was released at 4.15pm and returned to station at 4.50pm where it was refuelled and made ready for the next shout
