Both lifeboats launched to a report of a 44’ yacht in difficulties having broken its mooring in Portland Harbour.
The yacht was located near to the entrance to Weymouth harbour, unable to make the entrance due to the weather conditions, an engine problem and a shredded Genoa sail.
The ILB transferred 2 crewmembers to the casualty who ensured the 2 crew and their dog were well.
The ALB then transferred a towline to the vessel and gradually brought the vessel around towards safety.
The weather was gusting to 50 knots with 2 metre seas
Once near the harbour the yacht was brought alongside and taken to a safe berth in the harbour.
