Solent Coastguards requested Lifeboat assist for a 9 metre motor cruiser with 4 persons on board, suffering overheating engines, and had issued a ‘pan pan’.
ALB paged and launched.
A passing yacht responded to the Pan Pan, and was standing by the vessel.
Once on scene the Lifeboat crew assessed the situation. With everything else well on board, and the skipper happy to accept a tow, a line was passed, and once rigged, the tow commenced back to Weymouth.
At the entrance to the harbour the vessel was brought alongside the ALB, and towed up the harbour to the allocated berth.
Wyke IRT and harbour staff were awaiting to assist with mooring.
With the vessel safely alongside, the ALB was released to return to station, refuelled and made ready for service.
