NMOC requested Lifeboat assistance to numerous reports of a vessel on fire in the Ringstead Bay area.
DLA authorised both boats to launch.
Both ALB & ILB launched & proceded to a position given of 1’ South of Ringstead.
The ILB arrived on scene, with no vessels visible.
The ALB headed further to the East and located the vessel concerned
It was found to be a PWC, with 2 other PWC’s, 1 RHiB and a local charter boat also in attendance.
Once the ALB arrived on scene the other vessels where released, leaving the 2 PWC’s and the PWC that had been on fire.
With the ILB now on scene a briefing was held, and the decision made for the ALB to tow the PWC back to harbour.
A rope was passed to the owner to connect to the PWC.
Once connected the tow was commenced.
Once in Weymouth Harbour, the PWC was handed over to the ILB to tow to the public inner slipway.
