ILB launched to a report of a missing swimmer on Weymouth Sea front.
Coastguards rescue teams and helicopter also tasked.
ILB arrived on scene and due to the fading light and area to search requested the ALB to be launched.
The ILB conducted a shoreline search from the harbour to Lodmoor, with the ALB searching further offshore.
Coastguard teams searched the beach and shore, with the rescue helicopter conducting a FLIR and visual search of the bay.
The search was then extended to include the harbour, Newtons Cove and the Northern arm of Portland breakwater.
With nothing found and the area well searched, all units were stood down, with a plan to recommence the search at daybreak.
After the lifeboat had returned to the station information was received from the Coastguards the person had been found safe and well ashore.
