Three of the crew were awarded long service medals, two for 20 years service and one for 30 years.
The station Lifeboat Operations Manager Nicki Ayling welcomed everyone to the evening and gave a background to each of the three recipients.
The first being Kevin Goddard who was presented with a 20 year medal; during those 20 years he was paged to 1,934 shouts.
Next came Phil Hansford who also received a 20 year medal; during his time as a volunteer crew he was paged 1,200 times with a further 681 when he became the stations full time mechanic.
Last to receive a medal was Coxswain Andy Sargent. He was presented with a 30 year bar to add to his previous 20 year medal for his service to the RNLI at Weymouth. During his time as a volunteer crew and as full time Coxswain he has been paged more than 2,300 times, an average of 94 a year.
Each of the medals was presented by Di Ludlow, who although no longer holding any official post at the station, is still much loved and respected by the crew for the many years of service that she gave to the RNLI as chair of the Ladies Guild and the widow of the late station Hon. Sec Bill Ludlow.
In closing, Nicki Ayling praised all three of the crew saying ‘I am amazed at their dedication to the RNLI and Weymouth lifeboat station’.
