New Atlantic 85 arrives at Weymouth Lifeboat Station


Weymouth RNLI Lifeboat station has taken delivery of an Atlantic 85 Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) which will replace the aging relief Atlantic 75.
Funded by a very generous donation from long time supporters of the RNLI Mrs Phyl Clare and her husband Jack Cleare
The new Atlantic 85 named ‘Jack and Phyl Cleare’ is a larger vessel. It also host a greater range of electronic equipment including RADAR, Chart navigation system and direction finding capabilities.
The crew capacity has also been increase to 4.
Powered by powerful twin 115hp four stroke engines give it a top speed of 35 knots, making it faster, but more economical than its predecessor.
Weymouth RNLI volunteer Lifeboat crew will be undertaking numerous training sessions over the coming weeks to thoroughly familiarise themselves with the operation of this very capable craft.

Jack and Phyl Claire was escorted into Weymouth Harbour on Monday 19th April 2021 flanked by the current Weymouth Inshore Atlantic 75 Lifeboat ‘Braemar’ and the All Weather Severn Class lifeboat Ernest and Mabel.
