Weymouth RNLI lifeboat book released

Weymouth RNLI lifeboat station not only has a volunteer lifeboat crew but a number of background volunteers as well. Those that come face to face with the public like those that run and operate the shop and those behind the scenes like admin and treasurer who are hardly seen but do vital work in the running of the station.
One such person who comes face to face with the public is Sid Payne who volunteers to show visitors and locals alike around the all-weather lifeboat.
Sid has been doing this for four years now having first started as assistant to Jim Fegan who did the same job for many years before passing away a year ago.
During the comprehensive tour of the lifeboat Sid shows the visitors all over the Severn Class lifeboat which we have at Weymouth and answers any questions about the lifeboat or the RNLI. Sid shows people around every Tuesday and Thursday morning from April to October with the tour starting at 10.30am; the tours have to be booked in advance in the lifeboat shop which is open from 10.30am to 4.30pm every day.
